By booking or staying at Shades of Africa Guesthouse, you agree to the following terms and conditions. These terms are designed to ensure clarity, safety, and an enjoyable experience for all our guests.

1. Bookings & Reservations

Bookings may be made via our website, Airbnb, Booking.com, phone, or email.
Full payment or a deposit may be required to confirm your booking, depending on the platform used.
By booking with us, you confirm that the information you provide is accurate and complete.

2. Check-In and Check-Out

• Check-in: From 14:00

• Check-out: By 10:00
  Early check-in or late check-out is possible upon request and subject to availability.

 

3. Cancellations & Refunds

• Free cancellation is available up to 30 days before arrival (unless otherwise stated at the time of booking).

• Cancellations made less than 30 days prior may be subject to a 50% charge or forfeiture of deposit.

• No-shows or same-day cancellations are non-refundable.

• Refunds (where applicable) will be processed via the original method of payment.

 

4. Children, Extra Guests & Pets

• Children of all ages are welcome. Please inform us in advance of extra beds or cots.

• Maximum occupancy per room must be adhered to.

• Pets are allowed only by prior arrangement and in designated rooms. We reserve the right to decline entry for unapproved pets.

 

5. Use of Facilities

• Guests may enjoy full access to the gardens, swimming pool, patios, BBQ areas, and communal lounges.

• Some areas, such as the 18m lap pool and gym, are exclusive to Manor House guests.

• Please supervise children around the pool and gardens at all times.

• Use of facilities is at your own risk; Shades of Africa is not liable for injury due to misuse or neglect.

 

6. Off-Grid Solar Power & Electricity Use

• Shades of Africa is 100% off-grid and powered by solar energy.

• While our system is robust, energy availability may be affected by weather conditions (e.g. cloudy days or storms).

• Please be mindful of electricity usage — turn off lights, air-conditioners, and other high-energy appliances when not in use.

• Heavy-use items like hairdryers, irons, and kettles may be limited during low-solar periods.

• We will notify guests in advance of any expected outages or reduced load capacity.

• Thank you for supporting our commitment to sustainability and conscious travel.

 

7. Events & Gatherings

• We host weddings, birthdays, high teas, art functions, and private dinners.

• Events must be booked in advance and are subject to approval and additional fees.

• Outside events are not permitted without prior consent.

 

8. Self-Catering & Communal Areas

• Selected units are equipped for self-catering. Shared kitchenettes and braai areas are available to other guests.

• Please respect communal areas by keeping them clean and tidy for the next guest.

 

9. Noise & Conduct

• Quiet hours: 22:00–07:00

• We expect respectful behavior at all times. Disruptive or disrespectful behavior may result in removal from the property without refund.

• We reserve the right to charge for damages caused by guests during their stay.

 

10. Wi-Fi & Connectivity

• Free Wi-Fi is provided throughout the property. Please note that connectivity may be affected during power outages or due to regional infrastructure.

 

11. Liability Disclaimer

• While we take all reasonable steps to provide a safe environment, Shades of Africa Guesthouse accepts no liability for loss, damage, or injury sustained on the property unless due to proven negligence.

• We are not responsible for loss or damage to personal items left unattended in rooms or common areas.

 

12. Privacy

• We respect your privacy and process your personal information in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

• By staying with us, you consent to the collection and use of your information to manage your stay and communicate with you.

 

13. Force Majeure

• We shall not be held liable for delays, changes, or cancellations due to events beyond our control, including natural disasters, pandemics, electricity or water outages, or local authority regulations.

 

14. Changes to Terms

• We reserve the right to amend these Terms & Conditions at any time. Any changes will be posted on our website with the date of revision.
